102-year-old WWII Marine veteran Bess Gorelick from Pennsylvania reflects on her service, driven by a desire to “do something” for her country. She joined the Marines, taking on roles typically held by men, and recalls the discipline, camaraderie, and challenges, including a dangerous gas mask training incident. Gorelick’s Jewish faith remained important, learning to read the Torah at age 95. Proud of her family and the confidence her service gave her, she continues to cherish the legacy of her contributions as she approaches her 103rd birthday.
